Whether you’ve never been on stage in your life, or you’ve been performing since you were six, you’re welcome here.
And whether you want to write a standup comedy set about cat videos, an edgy monologue about the current political climate, or a TED Talk about endangered frogs, the supportive atmosphere and the high caliber of students will bring your work to life…
Q: HOW DOES IT WORK?
A: Solo Showdown is a journey into the mystery of YOU, that culminates in a final performance of your solo work, standup, or monologue. Together, in an intimate group of people, you’ll be finding and honing your story, and discovering your voice. In this workshop, we bring personal experience on stage in a socially and politically relevant way and practice humor as a vehicle for transformation. People take this workshop again and again.
Each week, the workshop will include acting warmups, improv exercises, writing prompts, time on stage to create, and supportive dissuasion about your piece. It’s one part comedy, one part group therapy, one part alchemy. All parts good. Come for the knock-down, drag-out, full self-expression with the full range of human emotion. Stay for the fun and connection. Leave with a 10-minute piece you can perform anywhere. Your Hero’s Journey begins here.
Q: DO I NEED KNOW WHAT I’M GOING TO DO ON STAGE, BEFORE I SIGN UP?
